What is CV Giving Day?

CV Giving Day is one of Coachella Valley’s largest 24-hour online giving events, uniting nine cities, hundreds of nonprofits, and thousands of generous residents and businesses in a powerful movement to create lasting change. Now in its 3rd year, this one-day event held on the first Tuesday of March, is designed to amplify the impact of local nonprofits by raising critical funds, winning cash prizes, and positive awareness for the causes that matter most to our community.

When is CV Giving Day 2025?

CV Giving Day 2025 will take place on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 12 AM to 11:59 PM.

Who created CV Giving Day?

The Desert Community Foundation and FirstBank have been hosting CV Giving Day since 2023! FirstBank has been involved with Colarado Gives since 2012, and it's this amazing event that CV Giving Day is modeled after.

Where is CV Giving Day located?

CV Giving Day is an annual, online, fundraising effort at www.cvgivingday.org.

Do the organizers make any money from the fees or donations? 

No, the organizers and sponsors fully fund all aspects of the event and the digital platform. The only cost to donors is a 5% fee charged by NeonOne (the platform) for credit card processing and services. Neither the organizers nor sponsors make any profit, they actually fund it all.

How can my nonprofit participate in CV Giving Day?

Review the eligibility requirements on the Nonprofit Registration page to ensure your eligibility. As a first-time participant, apply as a new organization via the Nonprofit Login screen to see if your organization is eligible.

If eligible, you'll receive a confirmation email inviting your organization to register for the giving day.

Nonprofits must complete their registration by February 23, 2025.

Who can participate?

Eligible organizations are 501(c)(3) public charities with a mailing address or footprint, services, or programs in the Coachella Valley.

An eligible organization may have only one profile on the site.

What is required to participate? Is there a fee?

There is not a fee to participate in CV Giving Day.

When will my organization receive its donations?

Your organization will receive a single check postmarked within approximately two months post-event that reflects all donations and prize money with fees deducted. More on this soon.

Does my organization need to send tax letters?

No. The donor will immediately receive an email confirming receipt of the gift from the Desert Community Foundation which can be used for tax purposes.

Does my organization need to send a thank you letter?

Yes. While the Desert Community Foundation sends the tax notification, this is NOT a substitute for a thank you from you! Let your donors know what you plan to do with their contributions.

Will my organization receive donor information for acknowledgments?

Yes. You can opt-in to receive donation notification emails if you'd like. You will have access to donor information under the My Donations tab inside your nonprofit account. We also encourage you to reach out to your donors during and after the giving day to thank them for supporting your organization.

I need technical support such as a password reset. Who should I contact?

Please use the blue support button in the bottom right corner of your screen to contact Neon One support. Neon One is the CV Giving Day platform provider and their dedicated support team is happy to assist you!

When will you review my organization's registration for CV Giving Day?

Our team reviews nonprofit registrations one day per week in the order they came in. Due to the volume of registrations, it may take us several weeks to get to your organization's registration. You will receive an email when your organization's registration is approved or if we need more information.

How can I donate to nonprofits through CV Giving Day?

CV Giving Day provides an easy-to-use platform for donors to search, support, and donate directly to their favorite nonprofit(s). Use the Find Your Cause search bar, or the Discover tab in the top navigation to search for nonprofits. Click to see the organization's profile! From the profile, there will be a Donate button available once donations can be accepted.

When can I start donating to participating nonprofits?

CV Giving Day 2025 will take place on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 12 AM to 11:59 PM.

How can I sponsor CV Giving Day?

One of the primary goals of CV Giving Day is to activate community members, business owners, and employees, along with local residents to support nonprofits. Businesses and foundations can join the CV Giving Day campaign through various opportunities such as sponsorships, setting up employee matching programs, or hosting virtual and creative events at your restaurant or business!

Why should I donate to CV Giving Day?

Join a citywide movement on this inspired day of giving for Coachella Valley nonprofits to raise unrestricted dollars to support their mission-critical services. Donations will be increased through the use of agency-specific matching dollars and prizes from individuals, families, businesses, and donors.

Can I donate to more than one nonprofit?

Yes! Most donors give to more than one organization. CV Giving Day has a shopping cart feature, allowing you to donate to multiple organizations in a single transaction. Just choose "View Additional Nonprofits" instead of "Checkout."

What method of payment can I use?

All major credit cards are accepted. An e-check (ACH) option, requiring you to enter your banking account information, is also available. Checks or cash contributions should be sent directly to the nonprofit of your choice.

Do donors receive a receipt for their donation?

Yes, Desert Community Foundation will email all donors a receipt for their donation(s) within minutes of their transaction. Donors will also receive a follow-up acknowledgment from the selected nonprofit(s).

What fees are on my contribution?

There are fees on contributions made through cvgivingday.org. During the donation process, you will be asked if you would like to cover this fee for your chosen nonprofit(s). If you select yes, 5% will be added to your total. Your entire contribution is tax-deductible, including the processing fee. Neither Desert Community Foundation nor FirstBank generate any revenues from CV Giving Day!

Can I use my employer's matching gifts program?

Yes, please ask your employer to send the donation directly to the nonprofit(s) you are supporting.

Will the nonprofit receive my contact information?

The nonprofit will receive your name, donation amount, email, and mailing address. If you would prefer your donation to be anonymous, check that box on the website donation form and the nonprofit will be limited to seeing just the donation amount.

Is there a minimum donation?

Yes, donations begin at $10.00 but there is a minimum donation required for non-profits to be eligible for prizes. 

When is the last day to request a refund?

While not guaranteed, the final day for Refund Request is March 28, 2025. 

What is Peer Fundraiser?

Peer fundraisers are members of the community who raise funds on behalf of the causes they care about. They create custom fundraisers on the CV Giving Day website and share their personal fundraising appeal to their network of friends and family.

CV Giving Day believes that when we all come together, anything is possible. We encourage you to involve your biggest believers like staff, advocates, activists, volunteers, board of directors, patrons, and clients. They are your greatest campaign supporters!

When can peers create Fundraisers?

You can start creating Fundraisers as soon as the Nonprofit is approved for CV Giving Day 2025!
