About the Organization
Hope In A Bag - Provides emergency kits for every local child at the time they are removed from their parent(s), reducing their trauma and providing them with what they will need to get through the first 24 hours in foster care. Items provided include pajamas, sweatpants or basketball shorts, t-shirts, socks, undergarments, sandals, toothbrush/toothpaste, baby wash, travel soap or body wash, travel size shampoo & conditioner, travel lotion, chapstick, hairbrush/comb, hair bands, deodorant, towel/washcloth, soft blanket, craft kit/art supplies, food cards (when available), (for babies) diapers, wipes, and baby formula.
Project Courthouse Cares - Offers a comfort item (plush toys, books, small toys) to every child who attends a Juvenile Court hearing to reduce the stress they experience.
Project Safe Night's Sleep - Ensures that every foster child has a bed and bedding that is just right for them so that they can remain or reunify with a parent or be placed with a relative. When reunification or a relative is unavailable, the program also helps encourage local families to open their homes to foster children in need of a safe and loving environment.
Summer Camp - Provide camp opportunities and college tours for foster youth, exposing them to new friendships and experiences, as well as the abundance of opportunities available to them. We hope to break the cycles of abuse and neglect and change the trajectory of these children's lives.
Swift Support Services - Children have different needs throughout the year, such as school supplies, backpacks, holiday and birthday gifts, as well as shoes and clothes due to growth spurts. Unfortunately, foster children may not have access to these items. That's where Coachella Valley Foster Kids' Swift Support Services comes in to provide these essential items to uplift foster children and support them in their daily lives.
